MENTORSHIP

The Collegiate 100 Chapter was founded in 2007 on the campus of Cuyahoga Community College, Metropolitan Campus by Faculty Member Dr. Gary E. Carrington. The Collegiate 100 serves as a city-wide chapter for other interested college students. The purpose of the Collegiate 100 is to provide networking and mentoring opportunities to college-aged students, and support for career development and college graduation. Members of the Collegiate 100 are required to complete training in Mentoring the 100 Way, support the Four-for-the-Future programming, and assigned a mentor.

EDUCATION

The Education Committee exercises the same strategic goals of the national education platform which is to educate and empower youth. One of our longest-running programs is the Wednesday morning tutoring session that takes place at Michael R. White K-8 school. Every week members and various volunteers arrive before the start of school to meet with young men in the third, fourth and fifth grades. Homework assistance, language arts, and math skills are reviewed to improve foundational skills as well as build self-confidence.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

The Health & Wellness Committee strategically focuses on goals to raise awareness, provide access to health care and give health information that will ultimately promote behavior changes resulting in a healthier lifestyle. We collaborate with other organizations to provide programs such as:

• The African American Wellness Walk to help raise awareness for preventable health diseases.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

The Economic Development Committee considers economic empowerment necessary for creating just societies around the world. The 100 defines economic empowerment as the ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them and ultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. Program initiatives promote generational economic self-sufficiency through financial literacy, family wealth building, and entrepreneurship.
